Dots on Dots

Mixing prints can be a difficult hurtle to tackle. Now that this has been a trend for a minute (or two), I find myself getting a little bored with mixing the basics - like stripes and florals. So I figure, why not try something different? What about mixing the same kind of print and pulling it together with the colors? My goal was to go for a more advanced print mixture. I did get a few compliments throughout the day - so I figure that my work here is done! At least until the next time I try and venture into print-mixing…

Try to look past the blur...
I had my doubts - that is for sure. But I figure that since it all tied together with the same color scheme, it works. The open dot mixed with the filled dot is a nice complement to each other. Chambray is my basic in the middle and the little pendant necklace pulls all the colors together.

I got this necklace last summer from the Lily Pulitzer pop-up store in the Hamptons. Considering the recent, super sad news about her passing, I found it apropos to mention the adorable piece. The picture does not give it justice, but there is a wishbone attached to the heart, which just about makes it one of the sweetest pieces in my collection. Just adorable.  It is actually more fitting than I initially thought seeing as how Lily was all about her prints. Well Lily, this one (or two…) is for you. ;)

Camera and denim on repeat

Who knew that a denim jacket would come in so much handy in Orange County? In Vegas, it is usually either too cold or too hot for a good weight denim jacket. I have to say though; I am pretty excited that I get to give mine a good run for its money lately. I feel like a denim jacket kind of completes an easy-breezy outfit for a day of running around in gorgeous weather. That and a bright bag, of course.

Maybe I should work on keeping my purse closed more often! :/
It looks like this Marc by Marc Jacobs top and J. Crew jacket are on repeat with this outfit. Oops! I just cannot help myself when I wear this top to pair it with a jean jacket. I love to mix soft and hard and I feel like this top with this jacket does just that. The graphic is just so wannabe badass that it has to be paired with something a little more soft, like the more feminine denim jacket.

And of course, no outfit of mine would be complete without arm candy! I have recently come to terms with the fact that I feel naked without my usual slew of bracelets climbing up my arm. I think if I could wear them up to my elbow, I would. But that might hinder mobility somewhat. Maybe.

Funny story about this bag is that I actually own it in two colors. Guess I just could not live without this camera bag from J. Crew. And in almost every color available! Oy.
