The Sun in So-Cal

I wish that I could record and/or bottle the sounds of Orange County. I have never heard anything like it. It’s like something out of a fairy tale. In Cinderella, Disney tried to imitate it with all of the birds that were singing along with Cinderella when she started her morning duties. He did a pretty good job. There are not even that many trees directly outside my window, and I still wake up to the birds sounding like they are right outside, every morning. Even on a gloomy day like yesterday, I still wake up to birds chirping outside my window. It is no wonder why all the people are so nice in Orange County, what is there to be upset about when you wake up to beautiful weather and sunshine almost every day?

Except yesterday, of course. That was the exception to the rule. On a gloomy day in So-Cal., I decided that I should wear something colorful to make up for the lacking of sunshine outside. Maybe that could be my sunshine for the day!

One thing about Southern California that I can complain about? Most of the time, it is too hot or comfortable to wear all my scarves. Those big, fluffy, super fun ones? Ya, say hello to the darkness of the box, my friends. Such a sad story. May you all rest in peace. 

The Bold and the Beautiful

Once again, I feel like I am defying the laws of the season - who needs ‘em, anyways. This year, I say anything goes. I mean, technically, the world was supposed to have ended by now, right? ;)

I love, love, love mixing a good gingham or check print with floral. For some reason, I almost feel incomplete if I wear a check print without putting some kind of floral print on it. And then when you throw in a bright colored pant, it just is the icing on the cake. Even when it is something crazy like 30 degrees outside. Oy.

Yikes!

The only problem with this obsession, is that it gets old - real quick. The challenge is being able to mix it up a little bit. I'll keep you posted on how that goes...

In this case, I just threw on a black sweater for functionality, without completely ruining my bright look. And the silver shoes toned it down a little too. So maybe there is something to say about wearing bright colors in the winter. I think as long as it is weather appropriate, then it's fine. Thus, the scarf and sweater. :)

Public Display of Affection

I read an e-card once making light of the rituals you go through in your head when you're single. It was hilarious because one minute, you love being able to have an endless marathon of all your favorite chick flicks; the other minute, you're crying at the end of those movies because you're sad that you don't have someone in your life to share the experiences in the movies that you have now become jealous of. So what happens when you have what they portray in those amazing chick flicks...? You cry even harder because you've found what you've been inadvertently looking for all those years of dating. Okay, maybe not inadvertently looking for... But looking for nonetheless. Then all you have left to complain about is that you are no longer able to watch those chick flicks because you're so busy spending time with the boy who makes you feel like you're in a chick flick every day. Sad story. Or not. So what happens when he goes out of town for a day or two..? A much-needed marathon of those chick flicks that are now so near and dear to your heart while never leaving bed or your jammies. That's true love right there. :)
