Time to get fancy with the French chambray!

I have recently realized that I am obsessed with chambray shirts, i.e. mostly lightweight denim. (Who decided to call it chambray…?) It is the easiest to pair with anything - especially other denim, even though that is considered a fashion faux pas. But if you read my blog regularly, you know how I feel about fashion faux pas… 

Enter: out of state family gathering. So I have already come to terms with the fact that I put WAY too much thought into what I am wearing on a daily basis, but it works for me - so whatever. After driving all day to get to Long Beach, I figured an easy outfit that can be thrown together would work the best for a surprise graduation party (Congrats, cuz!!) And what have we learned completes any outfit, according to me? Well a scarf, of course!! :)

And we cannot forget the addition of my newest, most favorite boots! I really need to stop wearing them so much though, so that they do not get too worn out too quickly. Super sad story that I need to talk myself into NOT wearing something that I love so much. Womp womp.

"You don't wear it, you live it."

I am not one to go on rants about magazines or advertisements all too often. Usually, I try to take the “high road” from all the dramatic nuances. BUT, I was flipping through the pages of the December Allure and came across an advertisement for Philosophy perfume that was named, Grace. This ad was the deepest ad I have ever seen in my entire life. See for yourself below…

But it really got me to thinking and kind of stuck with me. Obviously, they are trying to create a persona that people can become by using this perfume. But it could go either way. That person could be thinking, “so what, am I less of a person if I do not wear this perfume…?” I am sure that is not what Philosophy was trying to do, but they definitely achieved their goal of making a statement. 

A frozen moment in time...

Baubles for today and everyday…? A must, of course! I really started to get into this trend during the summer this year, and it just sort of stuck. Now I am trying to figure out how to keep it working into the fall months - logistically speaking, of course. Enter: the bracelet length sleeve. Even if your sleeve is indeed a full sleeve, it is super easy to just hike it up a little with a slight roll or tug at the elbow. This is much easier if we are talking about a sturdier top, like my denim jacket in the picture above, but is still more than do-able with a more wishy-washy fabric. For me, I have struggled with finding long sleeves that are actually long enough to cover my monkey arms completely by grazing the mid-point of my thumb muscle - so this whole “bracelet length” sleeve is really rather ideal for me. Although it may also be an excuse to wear a ton of long sleeve shirts who’s sleeves are really just too short. Once again, we ponder the age-old questions: who thought of this trend in the first place…?

Here a hen, there a hen, everywhere a hen hen...

Everyone needs an animal printed scarf in their lives, I feel like. This is not something that I have seen in fashion magazines or on the runways or anything, I just feel like it is one of those things that is just a staple in every wardrobe. Whenever I see people out and about in scarves, they are always worn for a reason, like to keep warm - and they usually have a certain utilitarian vibe to them. I guess that is fine if it is below zero or something outside, but let’s be honest right now, it’s almost Christmas and it is still 70 degrees outside. So when I see a super fun scarf that is really just made to add a little something-something to an outfit, I am all in. Now we all know how I feel about scarves and how they complete a look and all, and a good print does nothing less - especially when the print consists of hens! I am consistently hearing people say, “Oh, look! There are chickens on that scarf!” First of all, they are hens people - get it right; and second of all, I know, right! SO cute! :)

P.S. I just realized this ENTIRE outfit is J.Crew... go figure.
