Printed Pant Predicaments

Recently, I have really been trying to step out of the box when it comes to what I wear. I have been having fun with prints and colors that I would have never before been drawn to. I put a lot of effort into looking like I just threw two opposites together and totally pulled it off to look adorable. Sometimes it works, and sometime I spend an hour (or two) standing in the closet and playing dress up in front of the mirror and the boyfriend, who, of course, tells me that I need to "calm down with the stuff that I've been wearing," which usually leads to me storming out of the room in a huff just to put on the next option to get his opinion. Wanting to know what he thinks is a must, but from a fashion standpoint, it's rather annoying. What else is new.

But, I keep trying to mix up my wardrobing decisions, regardless of the minor stress it causes me. I figure it's a necessary evil. There are some prints that I have been able to successfully mix and match, while some are easier to pair together than others. I feel like polka dots and stripes are pretty easy, and the basic cheetah print is pretty easy with a textile pant or something. A printed pant is something I have a hard time with, though. I have been eyeing these cheetah print chinos from J.Crew for the longest time. My obsession started when I saw them do a full outfit print with the pants in their catalog, and it only gained momentum when I started seeing all my favorite bloggers wearing these pants and completely rocking them. Then they went on sale, and I just HAD to finally commit. Then, of course, they were sold out of my size, and then one day they weren't! Now that they are finally sitting in my closet, I have NO idea what to wear them with. Of course this would be just my luck that I ogle something for ages and become completely infatuated in it, and then when I finally get my hands on it, I feel lost. I am not completely sure that allowing my clothes to let me feel lost about them is something I should be doing, but it is what it is. Oy.

But they are just SO cute!!
Here’s my first go at putting them into an outfit. I think I pulled it off pretty well, if I might say so my self. That night we went down onto the strip and shopped through the Forum Shops. I got tons of compliments from Sales people throughout the mall, but who knows how much sincerity I can count on in their compliments. How about you just see for yourself…

Girl Power

LOVE.

What better way to be an uber stylish wannabe, than to read an uber stylish memoir?
Just kidding... Not really. :) White Girl Problems is probably the funniest book I have
read in a while and it is such a quick read that it just makes you want to keep reading.
And when you've finished reading, you just want nothing more than to love her, hate
her, and oh, who are we kidding, just plain be her. It just really made me want
to be snobby for the hell of it and expand my love of fashion into more complex and
exclusive designers. Which, of course, is no where near within my budget... Nor do I
have any business being snobby for the hell of it. Having people think you're a bitch
because you're snobby is no way to go through life - even though I have my moments.
Don't judge me.

There was one other topic that this book seriously changed my perspective on - but you'd have to read the book to know the rather explicit topic. ;) I think I
died a little the day I read this chapter just because I was laughing SO hard. Just read it
and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I died. Check out chapter 5 and get back
to me.

Fall is upon us!

I don't know about you, but the first thing I think of when the weather changes is, "What am I going to wear?!" First place I look for answers is always the most current magazine on the shelves. This time, I turned to the September issue of People Style Watch...

Hey there, hey...  :)

They featured a handful of ADORable ideas. They focused on easy ways to transition your wardrobe without spending a fortune. I feel like this is always the way to go for a magazine looking to write an edition to market to the masses who obsess over fashion - namely, me! The first trend I came across that I am completely obsessed with is the trend of color - jewel tones to be exact. Deep shades of purples and emerald greens really caught my eye and scream fall to me.

Jewel tones simply to die for...
Now the question is how to wear them. My answer is, of course, with everything! I love mixing these tones with neutrals or even putting tones on top of tones. For example, from the picture above, I would wear the purple dress with the hunter green boots (which are kind of cut out of the shot, but they're a short boot with a block heal) and some nude color tights to really make it scream fall - or even winter. For some reason, I feel like fashion throughout the entire fall season should be like a crescendo leading up to the end of the year. In the spring, you start with super bright colors - like the vibrant floral tones. In the summer, you dial the colors down a bit and go for the deeper floral tones, like the bold pinks and bright fuchsias. Then to transition into fall, you go deep - start going for the bold reds and maybe introduce some purples and navy. Then the colors gradually get deeper as the winter months go on. All leading up to New Years, when you really bust out all the glitz and glamour with sequins galore. (LOVE it!)

The final trend that I found in my issue of People Style Watch is a beauty trend: rosy cheeks. I think the trick to mastering this trend is to find the perfect shade of rosy for your skin tone. I like to think that because I have fair skin, it is easy for me to have rosy cheeks, but that's just not the case. A couple weekends ago, the boyfriend and I went to a friend's birthday party where a picture was taken of us - and by golly, I really think I have mastered the rosy cheek now! See for yourself...

Hello, rosy cheeks!!

The First of Firsts!

Here goes nothing! :)
Welcome, welcome!! Here goes my first post on my first blog! I am so excited to share such an awesome idea with you. I am just a regular girl trying to find my way through shopping (and I love it!). I know that I am not a trend-setter, and that's okay, because I know I am not the only one out there. The idea is to be able to be okay with that and find yourself through different style ideas and be able to fall in love with what works for you. So here goes my road to self-discovery through fashion. I hope you enjoy all of the styling ideas that I find to be inspirational. This is going to be so much fun and I can not wait to get started following all the great trend-setters out there!
